Opioid crisis has medical centres struggling to deal with financial repercussions involved with treating people with addictions

Nearly 30 West Virginia hospitals have banded together to sue some of the biggest U.S. opioid producers for damages.Hospitals in West Virginia have banded together to sue some of the country’s largest opioid companies, saying they flooded Appalachia with powerful painkillers and forced medical centres to deal with the financial repercussions.

Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania-based AmerisourceBergen issued a statement calling the suit “counterproductive.” Purdue Pharma, based in Stamford, Connecticut, and Cardinal Health, in Dublin, Ohio, didn’t immediately respond to voice mails seeking comment.
