Lawyers on behalf of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party have written to the Judicial Service Commission seeking a postponement of the next sitting in October.The JSC is expected to hold its next sitting from the 7th to the 11th of October 2024.
In the letter to the JSC, dated 30 September 2024, attorneys on behalf of the MK Party contend that the effect of the interdict renders the JSC “improperly constituted”. As a result, pending the review of Dr. Hlophe’s designation to the JSC, the MK Party is seeking a postponement of the October sitting of the JSC.
Lawyers on behalf of the MK Party are demanding a response by Tuesday, 1 October 2024, failing which, the party is expected to take further legal steps.
