Preparations for the mass funeral of six people who were brutally killed at Godini village outside Qumbu in the Eastern Cape are underway.
Family spokesperson Phumzile Sotshongaye says, “The head of this family is no more, our headman is no more it is very difficult for the family, but we are happy that our government came to our rescue, provided us with water, brought the machinery for the grave preparation and we are still hoping for more help from the government.”
“This headman was our pillar; he defended our livestock but at last these criminals won because they killed him. Here at Godini we have lost our calves and goats, they took my 18 goats and the following month they took 70 goats from my brother, they have now taken their lives, they were having a meeting at the school premises, but they came and killed them,” says Lindiswa Mbangatha, a resident.
