The death toll has risen to five after a car ploughed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Germany. The horror incident occurred on Friday evening at the Magdeburg market in Saxony-Anhalt . Saxony-Anhalt governor Reiner Haseloff also said that more than 200 people in total were injured, many seriously, when a black BMW was intentionally driven into the market on Friday evening.
He has also voiced support for the far-right and anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany party. Recently, he seemed focused on his theory that German authorities have been targeting Saudi asylum seekers. Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that nearly 40 people “are so seriously injured that we must be very worried about them”. He said: “There is no more peaceful and cheerful place than a Christmas market. What a terrible act it is to injure and kill so many people there with such brutality.
