A total of 15 million homes in the UK are in need of some kind of energy efficiency improvements - and there is a 'lack of credible long-lasting policies' to deliver it, the PM is told in a hard-hitting letter.

That includes more than four-fifths of those planning to vote Conservative in the next election and 84% who voted Tory in 2019, despite Ms Truss's solar farms' opposition.

He added:"At a time when we need to shift from expensive gas to low-cost renewables as rapidly as possible, most people agree that if local communities support having a wind farm nearby, the government shouldn't stand in their way."The CCC and NIC chairmen warn gas is expected to stay expensive until 2027, with 90% of the recent increase in the energy price cap driven by gas price rises.

"Energy security and reducing the UK's exposure to volatile fossil fuel prices requires strong policies that reduce energy waste across the economy and boost domestic production of secure low carbon energy."The RenewableUK survey also had a strong message for Ms Truss and her fracking plans - only 34% of overall responders supported it as well as 51% of those who voted Tory.

Meeting the UK's legal target to cut climate emissions to zero overall - known as net-zero - by 2050 through measures such as energy efficiency andcan help secure the UK's energy sovereignty and protect it from fossil fuel prices, Lord Deben and Sir John say.

Utter garbage !! Sky News should change its name to Sky Woke News - We need to sort out our fuel self sufficiency first & foremost then we can look to develop more greener alternatives

So a nice impartial letter then! There is no climate emergency. The current energy emergency is partly caused by obsession by green tech that simply doesn’t work. Wind turbines that are turned off of its ‘too windy’ or don’t work if it’s not windy? They go to landfill as well🤯

Well can we all agree nuclear isn't the best it's just going to produce waste for the future. Why not solar and golf cup turbines on all properties and new builds with full renewables as above and recycled water system

We have listened to “experts” long enough. Time to get real and look after the current needs of our own citizens

Neither of these experts have an engineering or power systems background.

The purpose of government is to serve the needs of the electorate. That's You & Me. If we disagree with what they do we can change things. Write to your MP. EVERYONE. Make it clear that they will NEVER be elected again if they do not heed us. TheyWorkForUs

We’re sick of listening to so called experts!

Are these the experts that failed to predict this ?

somtam67 The solution for solar and wind balancing which the uneducated don’t understand is grid sized vanadium redox flow batteries can store 1000’s of Mega Watts replacing peaker plants and balancing the grid at source and load ends reducing transmission costs. At a fraction of 💰

Idiots

Experts you say Ate they the same experts that got us into this mess in the first place

We're already in enough trouble with renewables not coping so shut the f-ck up 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😡

Short term energy independence can only come from gas - until renewables and nuclear can take over.

If they’re the ‘experts’ we are truly fcuked.

'Climate Change Committee (CCC) chairman Lord Deben ...' do you mean this Lord Deben? Government Whitewashing Lord Deben’s £600,000 Green Scandal

‘Experts’ you say?

Get the fracking done ...no wind turbines unless and you need sun for solar..it says it in the name...stop trying yo scare people...mind you less and less people watch anymore

This is why we're in the shit .

Experts have cost lives. They can shove it. Find a more useful crystal ball.

That would of worked well the last 4 days it’s hardly stopped raining

Freeze energy prices now. No price increases at all.

Beat it experts. Rainbows don’t boil the kettle.

No we take fracking gas and oil wherever it’s available your “experts” can take a back seat.

It's September. Winter is around the corner. It's to late to do anything other than cap the price. Otherwise the country will go into meltdown. Businesses will fail. People will stop spending. The economy will collapse. The government will do nothing. We are Fcukkd

Here we go again! Stupid theorists who do not get in their heads we do not get enough of energy supply when there is no wind.

says who? what experts? oh the same experts who said the maldives would be underwater 12 years ago, that experts? or the ones who said antarctica would be void of ice , but now it’s the artic as antsrticaythis last year has had its coldest avge 12 months on record so doesn’t suit

The ‘experts’ are not always right are they!

OR STEALING FROM JEWISH BIAFRA!. LIBERTY. WhiteHouse VP TheBlackCaucus USSupremeCourt USinNigeria USUN StateDept SenateGOP HouseForeignGOP . FOUNDING FATHERS KNEW.

/ 💯% Agree 👏🌟👍🧐Whilst your dealing with Members Of Parliament that are buried in the Past !!!

“Experts” 🙄🥱

These experts are part of the reason why there's an energy crisis and soaring bills

Experts are these the same ones telling us sell your petrol cars by diesel cars because they better for the environment the same experts that said once upon a time smoking was good for you or the world will end by 1999

ie John Selwyn Gummer, now Lord Deben. Perhaps next time Sky quotes him as an 'expert', it might also disclose his extensive personal financial interests in renewables and green investments. Which were the subject of a series of complaints to the Lords Standards Commissioner.

“Must be….” No. It can’t…

Agreeing to PM Liz Truss energy 'price freeze' would be ACCEPTING a permanent 80% cost rise! People who had a £100/month energy bill are currently paying £180/month for the same thing! Accept it? NO! There's a solution which gives us FREE clean energy: S&S

The UK doesn't need fields of solar panels or wind farms & decreasing arable land for future food security. If govt/councils & people want solar, put them on existing/future infrastructure.

The Russian-Georgian mafia, under the patronage of the Russian General T. Alasania and his National Movement of Georgia, transport post-Soviet migrants to Mexico, where they are sold to drug cartels for organ extraction.

That worked out really well recently with wind contributing only 2% of national needs. There are 23 million gas boilers in the UK The uk needs more of everything but baseload nuclear needs to go from 13% to 50% 2 EV cars same needs as entire home. We need more gas production

Basically, the experts want us to be dependent on foreign imports mostly from Asia, while we could just use fossil fuels.

What experts is that then greta tunberg 😂

But that is an impossibility that only renewable advocates would suggest, not experts!

We do know that energy output for most “green” tech is woefully inadequate, right?

Amazing. We have a heat or eat situation for millions yet these experts want us to revolutionise an entire industry in 3 months. No doubt Sky will bring this up repeatedly in their planned attacks on Truss. They are already forming the narrative.

Says who? Oh really, experts or greedy billionaires? Hmmm 🤔.

Be quiet. .😂😂

YES!!!!!!!!!!! renewables have been ready for primetime for over 20 years, it's all a matter of political will, and not paying the wrong people for oil and gas any longer

Solar isn’t going to help natural gas is it

🤫🤣🤣🤣🤫

Can we stop pretending that the Tories aren't responsible for the utter mess this country's in?

She has 3 months til winter. Better jump on that ASAP. Chop. Motherfucking. Chop.

That'll be great . . . in 20 years.
