The Minister for Defence and Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney and Chief of Staff Lt Gen Sean Clancy also spoke to participants and viewed exhibits which included drone, secure radio and bomb disposal technology. Coveney said that he believes there is an urgency in how Ireland will have to respond to the current national security threat environment.

Coveney said the presence of some of the world’s largest companies in Ireland means that there is a skill set in the workforce that can be turned to exploit defence possibilities. “Of course, we need to do this in a way that aligns with our national values, traditional peacekeeping and military neutrality, while protecting, promoting and sustaining our national advantage as a global hub of technology and talent.

O’Connor said his organisation assesses that Ireland will spend €2.5 billion on defence in the next 10 years. He believes that Irish companies should profit from that increased spending. Julie Behan, director of research and development at the company, said their firm is the sole supplier of bomb disposal vehicles to the Defence Forces.

He said that the drone, which can take off vertically, can be fitted with gimbles to allow it carry payloads for medical and rescue services such as the Coast Guard.

War Munger that's all he is

That unfit for purpose absentee Minister for Defence, should not be anywhere near military industry whatsoever. He and his fellow inept politician's have decimated our country's DefenceForces and literally sold off the family silver.

No thanks

Follow the money 💰💰💰

Cui bono ? Follow the money.... 🤔

Well... they're becoming more blatant. You have to give them that.

Pity simoncoveney wouldn’t be sent to the front line and get a taste of real war

Ffs he couldn't pay the defence staff now he's Johnny big balls 🙄 he couldn't sort out the homelessness in 2017 which he vowed he would, I wouldn't take that clown seriously 🙄

EnoughSaid

Ohh Jesus! Is there any chance of a general election before they do any more damage

These gangsters already trade military equipment with Apartheid Israel brutally occupying Palestinian land in breach of international law

Stability of society in Ireland is better served by staying neutral and not picking a side in what is ultimately economics. We're better off in Ireland promoting family values rather than fuelling murder

So you want Ireland to make equipment to kill people in other countries in wars that don't concern us. So much for neutrality.

Waste of money

Speak plain English on the table if you mean Ireland involved on war fare NO NO

What the hell does he mean

bloodthirsty

It will start with our own defence but Mr Coveney knows it will lead to a military weapons industry in Ireland and he has a company lined up for it already,he is obsessed with war

Nobody likes him or his ideas 👍🤡

Missing something here.. Ireland is Neutral... FFFG/G ..you have No mediate to change this

Why is simoncoveney looking to getting into weapons and wars

He will soon be out of office.
