EU regulators have reportedly sent a 91-page questionnaire to game companies asking them how they think Microsoft's acquisition of Activision could play out if it went through.

It also asks whether Microsoft is likely to raise the wholesale price of Activision’s games on competing consoles – thereby forcing retailers to charge more forAs is the case with much of the discourse surrounding the proposed acquision, the survey is also said to focus specifically on Call of Duty at one point, asking if its recipients consider it the most important video game franchise for distributors, and what the main alternatives are.

In recent weeks Microsoft has been repeatedly making assurances that it intends to release Call of Duty games onIn a bid to help gain approval for its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, earlier this month Microsoft said it hadFurther reading

Seems like the EU has no legal basis for blocking the deal.

Have to ask, when is enough enough? Like they had 1 point from PlayStation, Xbox proved it wrong with facts. They opened it up to the public opinion and that was positive to Xbox. When will it be just *thump* approved.

91 pages?...damn they really are trying so hard 😂

It's about the fans and players and not about other game companies....50% don't care, 30% are against and 20% just want it because they want to see Sony suffer.

This is the worst thing to happen to gaming ever, deal should be blocked

EU regulators: How do we say we have no idea about gaming, without saying we have no idea about gaming.

And everyone but Sony will say they have practically no concerns.

Since when do questionnaires get sent to competitors, did netflix or hulu get one when disney bought marvel or starwars? This seems very targeted this whole deal, and Microsoft has a great case of bias to show its only under scrutiny to protect Sony as msrket leader not consumers

I actually am curious what other actual developers think of this. Damn sure know none of you animals on this app can give me an objective pov.

This is probably not going to be good for Microsoft if you pay attention to how publishers have been shunning the Gamepass model. Publishers want to make money, not get crumbs from subscription models. Just look at music for example. Money to subscription and crumbs to artist.

So! That means EU regulators don’t know what they doing!!!

I wonder if they are going to ignore 99.9999% and focus on 1 submission, tho? 🤔

Gilbertbelieve2 Yes, this is the right thing to do, ask other developers how much this deal sucks I bet that there’s developers in Activision itself that doesn’t want the deal to go through

We all know who’s going to be the biggest bitch in the feedback 🤣🤣

What does it matter what they think when those companies that Microsoft sent the questionnaire to most definitely are not directly affected by the Activision Blizzard acquisition like Sony is?

The deal will go through. It doesn’t pose a threat to Sony/Nintendo of monopolizing the gaming industry. If anything, it levels it. Same argument when they purchased Bethesda. This will be old news soon.

All of these regulators have 0 knowledge about the games industry. They need people who are not biased to a particular platform and actually know what they're talking about when it comes to business.

Why would game companies care what Microsoft and Sony are arguing about?

Why ? It won't affect other game developers and publishers.

I think the only company that has publicly said anything against or for that isn't in the main 3 is Valve and they just said 'yeah that purchase could be cool. But like... Whatever.' I understand what you want with this but goddamn this is basically just Filibustering.

Monopólio

Only sony is affected so why would others think

Did they do this for similar sized deals? Send huge questionnaires to competitors? Sounds like a strange thing to do.

Regulators really love their paperwork, huh?

Finally, this deal is getting approved now.

M$ trying to get a list of the companies to payoff for favorable responses j/k

This is going to be fun to watch

It is so laugh that people think deal go through lol 😂🤣

91 pages? They dragging this out for as long as possible and I respect it.

Cut to a month later: '98% of the game companies went: we genuinely don't care'

Apple probably won't send it back. Literally the only one who has a problem with this is Sony.

Bas kar drama 😡 dekh dekh ke news pak gaya.

99% of games companies 'we don't fucking care' in every answer box

Interesting angle A lot of Activision's competitors would prefer it if Activision was no longer multi-platform It would reduce their competition & therefore while it may benefit them as corporations, it could harm consumers

Let’s gaur

Let it happen.
