It is a “firm position” of the Albanese government that they urge Australian companies not to pay ransoms in the case of a cyber attack, according to Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil.

“When you pay a ransom, you are paying a criminal and giving

them proceeds of a crime,” Ms O’Neil told Sky News Australia.
