The Indiana Republican Party is doing what it can to boost the campaign coffers of Valparaiso candidates for mayor and at-large seats on the City Council, providing almost $56,000 between those three campaigns alone for mailers, and tens of thousands of dollars in total to the other Republicans running for office in Valparaiso for the same.

Beyond that, the campaign finance reports for the candidates in Valparaiso and Portage’s upcoming mayoral elections were fairly routine — a mix of donations from private citizens, unions, businesses, fellow candidates or elected officials, and political action committees. The forms were due to the Porter County Elections and Voter Registration Office by noon on Friday, Oct. 20.

Trueblood did not receive any funds from political action committees and the majority of her funds came from individual donors. Incumbent Democratic mayoral candidate Sue Lynch answers a question during the Portage mayoral debate alongside Republican candidate Austin Bonta and Green Party candidate Michael Cooper on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Woodland Park.
