Last week, Malaysian influencer and media personality MsPuiyi suddenly dropped a notice that she is filing a civil and criminal lawsuit. After a few days of waiting, we finally have a name to whom the public figure is suing.
According to New Straits Times, the influencer, whose real name is Siew Puiyi, has filed a civil suit against her former business partner, Lai Kai Jian. Kai Jian, also known as Mentos, allegedly cheated Puiyi of approximately RM4.3 million between 2022 and 2023. During a press conference in Penang this morning , Puiyi revealed that Mentos is a 29-year-old man who was introduced to her by a mutual friend in 2019.
In addition to the tax arrears issue, Puiyi shared that the man had misappropriated funds from her company since June 2022. The 26-year-old said she filed the civil suit, through her lawyer, at the Penang High Court to reclaim the money. Her lawyer, K Mahendran, said the celeb had lodged a report against Mentos last October - but, unfortunately, there had been no prosecution or update on the case. Mahendran said the civil suit is to reclaim the RM4.
