THE country's total rice stocks in November totaled 2.46 million metric tons , a 24.4-percent increase from the 1.98 million MT in the same period last year, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority .The agency said rice stocks also rose by 7.9 percent from October's inventory of 2.28 million MT.Annual rice stock inventory gains were noted from National Food Authority depositories and the commercial sector, recording 135.2-percent and 54.7-percent growth, respectively.
Among the month's total rice stocks, the commercial sector accounted for 57.6 percent; households, 36.6 percent; and NFA depositories, 5.8 percent.The country's corn stocks, meanwhile, added up to 619.16 thousand MT, a 20.6-percent decline from the previous year's 779.46 thousand MT.The November inventory also showed a 14.9-percent decrease from October's 727.84 thousand MT.
