Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd. predicts a growth in the automotive industry volume (TIV) to 805,000 units by 2025, a slight increase from the estimated 800,000 units this year. The bank attributes this growth to several factors, including increased contributions from the affordable segment, the launch of new attractive models replacing older generations, and a shift towards fuel-efficient vehicles like hybrids, BEVs, and EEVs. Additionally, the growing market share of Chinese car manufacturers through localization production programs, such as Jaecoo & Chery from the Chery Shah Alam assembly plant and Great Wall Motor (GWM) and BAIC from the EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) Melaka plant, are expected to contribute to the growth.
