If Asiana's pilots don't fly at least three times in a three-month period, they lose their right to operate the plane.

. Asiana, which is South Korea's second largest airline, has flown the A380 more than 20 times since the coronavirus pandemic halted much of global aviation. "Takeoffs and landings of this plane cost a lot of money, and it's money that needs to be used wisely, especially these days," Um Kyung-a, an analyst at Seoul-based financial services company Shinyoung Securities,It is, however, necessary. If Asiana's pilots don't fly at least three times in a three-month period, they lose their right to operate the plane.

It seems it’s more economical for them to fly the empty planes as opposed to training the repilots for a new type rating or something of that nature
