Head of busiest U.S. port urges companies to pick up cargo more quickly to ease Covid congestion

"The time it takes for the importer to pick up their cargo at the port is now over four days, but it's off its high of five days sitting under dwell," Seroka said, adding there's been progress in other metrics, too.

Containers are seen on a shipping dock, as the global outbreak of the coronavirus disease continues, in the Port of Los Angeles, California, April 16, 2020.However, Seroka said he would like to see the improvements accelerate because it won't be long before traditionally higher volume periods roll around.

SquawkStreet Try paying truckers more humane wages, and while your at it, compensate them for their time, when they are detained getting in and out of the ports.

I'm a truck broker. Its tough to find trucks for virtually any kind of load, and if the PROAct goes through, it will be even tougher.

Ummm, urging them is not the way to do it. Charging them overly excessive storage fees is the way to handle this.
