Michael Sabia is one of three senior officials from the federal Finance Department testifying today at the public inquiry

Sabia says the country’s economy was at a “very, very fragile moment” when the “Freedom Convoy” protests began in late January, due to lingering effects from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and shifting dynamics in global trade.

Sabia tells the Public Order Emergency Commission the protests, which shut down several border crossings, were also hurting Canada’s reputation as a reliable trading partner at a time when there was growing protectionist sentiment in the United States. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s national security adviser, Jody Thomas, is also due to testify today.

Her actions, detailed in documents previously submitted as evidence to the inquiry, provide some insight into the advice Trudeau and his cabinet colleagues were receiving when deciding to use the Emergencies Act.

Yes thanks to his party and government

Didn’t Sabia create the GST?

‘delicate time’ Well then by all means implement the War Act. In fact Ukraine did the same thing. Only difference is Ukraine was attacked by a foreign nation, not a bunch of protesting truckers who were labeled ‘Heroes at the start of the pandemic.

What he means: trudeau's stoopid political travel mandates and unwillingness to discuss the issues with the convoy came at a 'delicate time' for Canada's economy

Naturally

Hey - if you lived on the streets close to Parliament hill, you wouldn’t be supporting this dog and pony show!

Of course, mouthbreathers always cost the country money.

I could say the same thing about the liberal government

I'm waiting for our lispy-leader to take the stand. Maybe he'll cry, telling how those bouncy castles terrified him thereby he NEEDED to invoke the EA.
