The tight labor market has spurred employers including UPS and Home Depot to offer hourly and temp jobs without first interviewing the applicants

Keontae Starks worked loading trucks at the UPS facility in Tupelo, Miss.Some employers racing to snap up workersUnited Parcel Service Inc.

has bulked up its staff without conducting job interviews for package handlers and seasonal drivers. Home Depot Inc. has sent job offers as quickly as 24 hours after candidates apply, in some cases eliminating the interview process. Gap Inc. has dropped job interviews for some warehousing positions.

Yeah who cares, welcome aboard.

Last week a FedEx driver kidnapped and murdered a child while on the job. Not vetting employees sounds like a great idea. 😑

I work for THD, guess what, most of these applicants never show up.

Yeah, more temp jobs with zero benefits.

Not a bad idea. Or even just to do a very light interview process, and get just people in. There are people that WANT to work!

Now if only those UPS temp jobs could transfer directly to full-time union positions...
