Resources Minister Madeleine King said the gas industry had plenty of warning over Labor’s plans to impose a “reasonable price” rule even as some LNG exporters continued to charge “exorbitant” prices.

She insisted “the future of the industry remains bright – there’s no doubt about it” and that Australia would continue to export to the world even if the writing was on the wall with the coming domestic and global shift away from fossil fuels.“We will continue to export gas to countries in the region and ensure they have a stable supply of gas,” she said.

“But the thing is, it is still needed around the world,” she said. “Australia is lucky to have those kinds of resources available, and we do encourage investment that has to come. Ms King suggested one flaw in the heads of agreement she negotiated with the three big east coast gas exporters in September was that it did not include the rest of the gas industry, and it suffered from a view that it “wasn’t seen to be working”.

Too bad. How sad. Fall starts now.

the gas miners are arrogant n greedy They r selling the max price rip off while exporting at cheaper price contract They r bound by their own stupidity to sign long term contracts

Minister King: studied an Arts degree; then tried engineering and failed after a year, then went and studied Law and became a politician. Knows NOTHING about resources and energy policy. Why do we elect these useless people to decide what’s best for industry?
