Kathleen Moriarty, who helped develop the first exchange-traded fund in the U.S., has died, according to a Dec. 20 note on Chapman and Cutler LLP’s website saying the law firm is mourning the loss of its colleague. “Kathleen was a pioneer in the investment management industry and was at the forefront of some of our industry’s most impactful innovation of the last thirty years,” wrote Morrison Warren, co-leader of Chapman’s investment management practice group, in the note. “Throughout her time at Chapman, she was a humble and thoughtful colleague and universally recognized as a kind-hearted and beloved individual.
