The decision to charge a San Francisco gallery owner with assault for spraying an unhoused person with a garden hose is sparking a new debate.

It's been a week and a half since a video surfaced, showing San Francisco gallery owner Collier Gwinn spraying down an unhoused person outside his business.Reverend Amos Brown, the president of the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP said he has since talked extensively with Gwinn about the incident.Brown says he disagreed with San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins’ decision to charge Gwinn but he was careful not to criticize that decision.

Instead, a person who said that he's an employee there told NBC Bay Area through a speaker in the door that Gwinn was taken into custody, but was cited and released. He said Gwinn does not have an attorney.

They arrest a white man is this the debate, he should have has assult charges filed also, because this is what it is

A debate between people who see this rightfully as assault, and on the other side people who don’t see that woman as human

Apparently this is the only crime in the city...

So being a turd is debatable now?

Not a single critic of the man who sprayed the homeless person would open their own doors to the homeless.

What happened to a little humanity?..give her a few bucks 💴..trust me she woulda moved on..flip side is she and many other unhoused citizens break way more laws than that on a daily and there are no charges

Homeless people gotta stop destroying and poopin' on people's property. If the city isn't going to do anything then the people have the right to do what they gotta do. First bath she has had in a year

Using a hose on someone while it’s freezing temperatures outside is 100% assault and he def had a smirk while doing it. I work in SF and I’ll usually offer them a cup of coffee or 2 if they leave and they always do. It’s not hard to not be a piece of shit

He most definitely deserves repercussions. May be a frustrating situation I’m sure but his actions were uncalled for.

Reverend Amos Brown is wrong and shouldn’t be the sole basis for a story on this incident. The circumstances of the unhoused in San Francisco has no bearing upon and is no excuse for this assault. This was an act of cruelty and endangered the victim given how cold it has been.

It's easy to cast him the villain, but realistically his situation is impossible. His walk is not appropriate housing. The presence of the person in front of the property isn't safe not only from mess and crime but a hazard to anyone with sight or mobility issues passing by.

As it should! ****in p o s liberal government wont do a damn thing for business owners when it comes to bums who cause us trouble! But oohhh theyll move so quick for bums who do nothing but cause trouble and a mess! **** CA politicians.

Everyone on here talking 💩 about the guy well then why don’t you bring the homeless into your house… very easy to criticize when it’s not you in his shoes. Bunch of fake ass hypocrites

This guys life will be destroyed by the radical left who support junkies living on the streets

Every state should put black history in schools by law! Teach the truth instead of lies! The world needs to know the truth about the evilness white people did to our ancestors! Why hid the truth? What are you afraid of that you want to cut black history out of schools!

Oh he’s “sorry” the only thing he’s sorry about is that he was charged. He’s pathetic loser I hope he gets shut down

Hes upset he doesnt have an illegal rather then a homeless on his step

Why are we calling them unhoused? On top of that, why wasn't it removed by the police I'm sure there was multiple calls.... Although wrong it could have been easily prevented

I hope they start a go fund me for this guy. Everyone is sick and tired of the homeless bs

I gotta say, this is what I would expect from someone whose😆 name is Collier. (-pronounced Col-lee-ay )😆 this name makes me laugh so much 🤷🏻‍♀️

Does anyone know what's the address for NBC los Angeles? I'm gonna bus over some of our city's finest homeless people to camp out right in front of their building and see how long it takes before they call the police to have them removed 😂😂 factsdontcareaboutyourfeelings

Unhoused person? Really nbc? This “homeless” person defecates and uses narcotics in front of his store. Maybe if you were a business owner you would have more empathy towards people trying to make a living instead of trying to be woke. Let the homeless sleep at your house then

A debate about whether it is somehow not a crime to casually assault poor people? 🤨

I honestly believe that the city is intentionally ignoring the problem in the hope that some city resident who has been robbed one too many times, snaps, goes vigilante and the city can then pretend to be outraged, while secretly applauding and hoping for more.

Being a turd is sparking debate?

the city should pay him for cleaning the sidewalk.
