From a half trail marathon through an African island paradise to a mountain bike 'race' in big five country, here are six of Africa's top events currently accepting entries.Although the lush Seychelles islands hardly need much more going for them than they already do, the option of a half trail marathon through paradise only adds another dimension to the idyllic destination.

It's a 63km three-day run through the untamed Serengeti, predators included, but under the protection of experienced scouts familiar with the region and animal behaviour.
