Shooting at Historic Market Square Fiesta event leaves one critical, crowd fleeing

San Antonio police investigate an argument-turned-shooting that left one man in critical condition Wednesday night, April 27, 2023, during a Fiesta Celebration near Historic Market Square on the 100 block of South Concho Street.A shooting Wednesday night at a Fiesta event downtown left a man in critical condition and sent partygoers fleeing.

The incident occurred when a man, 25, was arguing with another person about 10:30 p.m. near Historic Market Square on the 100 block of South Concho Street, a San Antonio police sergeant said. A gunshot rang out and hit the man in the chest. The crowd around him and whoever shot him fled. The man's family was with him when the shooting occurred, police said.Officers working their Fiesta posts found the man wounded on the ground, a police report states. EMS took him to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
