The Consumer Expectations Survey showed that consumer sentiment for the third quarter improved marginally as the overall confidence index turned slightly less negative at -9.6 percent from -10.5 percent in the second quarter. The consumer confidence index for the next 12 months declined to 18.9 percent from 20.5 percent in the second quarter.
