California company recalls avocados as precaution against listeria: Is your fruit safe?

1 / 6A major avocado producer announced a voluntary recall of the pear-shaped fruit because of the potential that the California-grown whole avocados could be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The company says it is contacting all affected customers to confirm that the recalled products are immediately pulled from store shelves.

I love apples, with a few bananas and oranges thrown in. I’m still alive and old so I don’t know if I’m lucky or not.

Avocado company recalling California-grown fruit sold in six states over listeria concernsThe recall relates to fruit marketed as California-grown conventional and organic avocados. The avocados are whole and sold in bulk by various retailers in Arizona, California, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin. Anyone care to guess the failure point? My guess is water testing for pathogens has something to do with it. Come to Limpopo their Avos are tasty and organic.. I need to buy Mexican avocados now?
