Workers from a Melbourne-based solar panel company are laid off, as the company claims customers are cancelling orders due to a freeze on new applications for the Victorian Government's solar panel rebate scheme.

An award-winning Victorian solar company has laid off just over half of its staff after the Victorian Government placed a temporary freeze on a solar panel rebate program.Solar installer Sky Energy Systems has laid off staff because work has dried upThe $1.3 billion solar homes package started last August and has been so popular that the rebates for this financial year have been fully subscribed.

There are currently over 30,000 applications in the system and 10,000 rebates have already been paid. Since the freeze on new applications came into effect, the work for solar installation companies like Sky Energy Systems of Melbourne has dried up. "Having no sales is like having no oxygen. You can't breathe. There's no business so it's devastating," Mr Hunt saidThe company employed 40 full-time staff in Keysborough and last year won a industry award as top installer.

That's what happens with government subsides, companies become welfare recipients. Enough is enough get governments out of peoples lives.

If you expand a company without knowing the size of the market you can expect a slice of, you will fail when the demand disappears 'unexpectedly'. The government would have told everyone the total subsidy pool available if asked. Did these people ask?

Jobs that the Coalition doesn't care about.

So once again we see an example of disingenuous people .. such a shame .. but also so very typical in Australia these days.

Small business will be the victim of Shorten's penalty rates promise | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says the 'main victims' of Bill Shorten's promise to reverse cuts to penalty rates 'will be small businesses and their staff'.\n\nThe Opposition Leader has vowed to reverse cuts to penalty rates within Labor's first 100 days in office if he's elected in May, as well as put in legislation to prevent the decision from being overturned. \n\nMs Credlin explains how the decisions on penalty rates are handed down by the 'independent industrial umpire', called Fair Work Australia, which was originally set up by Labor.\n\nShe is urging voters to 'beware the Labor scare campaign' on penalty rates, 'particularly when they're at odds with their own independent umpire'.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia\n\n\n\n\n The victims are the employees who have had wages cut. Businesses that open on weekends either pay properly or shut shop. Penalty rates have been paid for years and small businesses still survived. Oh, if you put a surcharge up I will walk straight out. You pay the penalties not ! My wife owned in small business several years ago, after penalty rates her two employees made more than she did. She finally put off her girls and closed the business. Small family businesses can have family work weekends and staff on weekdays. No penalty rates needed, simple solution.
