AMD just announced the acquisition of Silo AI, the largest private AI lab in Europe. The companies have signed a definitive agreement forAMD has seen tremendous growth in the last year, with its Instinct MI300 family of AI accelerators ramping to approximately $1B fast than any other product in the company’s history. Although that growth is obviously a welcome development, AMD remains somewhat constrained in terms of its AI skillset within the company.
In a conversation with AMD regarding the deal, I’m told the company has a long list of customers that want to connect for AI integrations, but it simply needs additional resources to adequately do so. Thebrings an additional 300 people to AMD, including 125 AI scientist PHDs, which already have extensive experience training LLMs on AMD platforms.
Silo AI has worked with an trained some of the largest models in Europe on AMD platforms and brings a wealth of AI knowledge and experience to AMD. This acquisition should help AMD to not only accelerate and rapidly expand its software efforts, but help the company better engage with new and existing customers looking to build advanced AI integrations. Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
