Amanda Lacaze, the managing director of Lynas Rare Earths, narrates how she set aside a full day for cultural awareness during her trip to Malaysia.

“It is not a case of us going in and being able to teach, right?” Ms Lacaze told The Australian Financial Review Asia Summit on Tuesday. “When I first took over Lynas and went to Malaysia. despite the fact that we were replete with challenges, I set aside a full day . “Truly recognising and believing what we Australians think we believe, about being egalitarian and outward-looking, is something we should always ask of ourselves as we interact globally,” Ms Lacaze said.Separately, Hong Kong property tycoon Ronnie C. Chan said Australian business leaders were too self-conscious about Asia. Asked from the floor at the Summit how Asia viewed Australia, he said that was the wrong question.

“Asia is basically a very open place. So really, you guys don’t need to ask that question, you just need to get out – Asia is ready to receive you.
