Major companies are hiring protection managers in the wake of last week's fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.Thompson, 50, was ambushed on Wednesday as he walked to his company's annual investor conference at a hotel in midtown Manhattan. His killing has prompted companies across various industries to reevaluate their security plans and the steps they take to protect top executives against threats.

'Late last week, BlackRock reposted a LinkedIn listing advertising the role of vice president, executive protection specialist.The listing said the role involved providing 'executive protection to key BlackRock executives' in New York and while they travel for business.Newsweek has contacted Amazon and BlackRock for comment via email.Companies that provide security services told Newsweek they had seen a spike in inquiries in the aftermath of Thompson's shooting.
