Hair loss can be an incredibly challenging experience — for many people hair thinning or breakage can feel like a visible reminder of ageing, hormonal shifts, or even genetic predisposition. In particular, conditions such as dry, thinning hair or scalp psoriasis are not just uncomfortable but can make daily life feel like an uphill battle.
In a landmark study published in PubMed in 2015, researchers compared the hair growth effects of rosemary oil with minoxidil, the active ingredient in Rogaine, a prescription medication for hair loss. The study found that both rosemary oil and minoxidil produced similar results in terms of hair regrowth after six months. However, the rosemary group experienced a bonus: a reduction in scalp itching, a common side effect associated with minoxidil use.
