President Duterte is no lackey of the country’s billionaires.
“P***, wala akong amo na maya…I don’t. I don’t even like the company. Wala akong ano sa kanila. But I simply do not… Kayong nakakilala sa akin, since when nakita ninyo ako sa Davao? Mag-isa o dalawa, nagmo-motor ako [Son of a b*tch. I don’t have a rich boss. I don’t even like the company. To those who know me, since when did you see me in Davao with them? I drive my motorcycle alone],” he said in his speech.
Duterte recalled that after the six-month rehabilitation and cleanup of Boracay, some people speculated that he was about to give the lands to the rich and powerful. The speculation proved to be wrong as the President decided to implement land reform in Boracay instead.
