Good morning. * Financial markets are waiting for Jerome Powell's speech, and stock futures are higher. * That's pretty much it.

The German DAX DAX, +0.34% increased 0.38% to 11792.12, the French CAC 40 PX1, +0.44% increased 0.41% to 5410.51 and the U.K. FTSE 100 UKX, +0.68% rose 0.74% to 7181.04.

What’s happening Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is due at 10 a.m. Eastern Time to address the Jackson Hole conference on challenges for monetary policy. After European markets close, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney also will address the venue. Separately, in Italy, President Sergio Mattarella has given parties until Tuesday to work out a deal or face new elections.
