The R1,000 investment worth nearly half a million rand 10 years later

A R1,000 investment in Nvidia ten years ago would be worth roughly 459 times more today, an analysis by MyBroadband shows.

While it would have been a long shot to predict Nvidia’s share price surge, there are some investors who might have poured money into the company around 10 years ago, when it was benefitting from another fairly young industry — crypto mining. MyBroadband calculated how much a 10-year investment in Nvidia would have been worth at market close on Tuesday, 18 June 2024.

With the rand trading at R10.84 to the dollar 10 years ago, R1,000 in Nvidia shares at the time would have bought you about 4.71 shares with the actual share price at $19.59.
