He is accused of standing on the leg of a protester, reportedly in an effort to stop the man getting away from police. Edwards is the eldest of a number of people to have so far either appeared in court or been charged following the protests and counter-protests at the beginning of last month which took place following the deaths of three young children in Southport. That includes public order offences, weapon offences and assaulting an emergency officer.
