Firefighters say there were no major injuries after a car smashed through the side of a building in Courtenay on Wednesday afternoon.
“We were just in the store doing research for the clients and doing some decorating and all of a sudden the building shook and a car came through the wall,” she told CHEK News, as first responders were still removing the vehicle from the store. Firefighters say the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital by ambulance, but only as a precaution.
Deters says she heard from a witness that the driver was trying to parallel park across the street, when suddenly she moved out, hit a curb, and “flew across the street into the building.”The business owner says the store will be closed for at least a few days, as repairs are made and the “humongous hole in the wall” is filled.
