A consultation was set to take place in 2022 but it hasn't happened yet

Arnold Market will stay at Eagle Square for at least another two years while a permanent decision is made on its long-term future. Traders moved from the nearby town square in 2021 during the building of the £4m Arnold Market Place development.

A consultation by Gedling Borough Council on where the market should have a new home has already been delayed by two years. The council’s environment and licensing committee waved through an extension to the stay in Eagle Square until the end of 2026 on Tuesday . Arnold Market is made up of stalls trading on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays selling products including fruit and veg, fashion and butchery. Council documents on the report said: “The council will shortly be undertaking a consultation with a view to the permanent relocation of the market to Eagle Square.

“This was scheduled to take place in 2022, but due to a restructure and changes in staffing this was delayed.” It adds Eagle Square “has proven to be the only viable option for the market to continue to operate while the consultation for permanent relocation is undertaken”. The Arnold Market development has created seven shopping units for start-up businesses. Current tenants include a wine tasting business, a deli and a board game shop.
