4 suspects who were allegedly on their way to commit a business robbery in Johannesburg have been shot & killed during confrontation with Gauteng Police.Four armed robbery suspects have been killed in a shootout with police on the R59 in Alberton, east of Johannesburg. Traffic is reported to be backed up as the road is closed for police and crime scene investigators to do their work.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Amanda van Wyk elaborates, “More than 6 000 counterfeit items were confiscated, including pharmaceuticals, clothing, watches, bags, cosmetics, and perfumes. We remain committed to eradicating the illegal trade of counterfeit goods to safeguard consumers, legitimate businesses, and the economy of this country.”
In other crime-related news, a suspect has been arrested in Barberton, Mpumalanga for possession of a vehicle reported to have been stolen. The suspect, who is reported to be Zimbabwean, was found driving the stolen vehicle on the road to Carolina. Provincial police spokesperson, Mogonseni Nkosi says officers received information about the vehicle which was stolen from Westville in KwaZulu-Natal. Nkosi says a roadblock was mounted at which the vehicle was stopped and the suspect arrested.
