is urging 1.6 million drivers in South Africa to renew their vehicle licence discsAccording to the National Traffic Information System, over 600 000 vehicle licence discs will expire at the end of November, and a further one million will expire before the end of next month.
The RTMC says that this comes as increased policing and enforcement will take place over the festive season. RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane says, “We would have already by now sent reminders to all of these motorists, especially those who are registered on the NATIS for the renewal of their vehicle discs. We send them two reminders; the reminders would go together with the forms that they must fill in just to make it easy for them to renew online.”
“The renewal rate is actually high, but around this time of the year, people tend to slack off because they prioritise other things, they prioritise their travelling, booking their hotels, and all of that. So, that’s why we’re saying they can renew now, to avoid disappointment along the roads as they go on their holidays,” says Zwane.Motorists can conveniently renew vehicle discs online; using
