Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled a new range of electric vehicles, including the smaller sporty BE 6e and luxurious XEV 9e electric SUVs, aiming to boost its market share in segments dominated by Hyundai and Toyota. The vehicles, with a driving range of more than 500 km on a single charge, are priced starting at around $22,500 and $26,000, respectively.
Mahindra hopes to capitalize on India's growing compact SUV market, where it has an edge in terms of running costs over hybrid and petrol-fueled rivals. The company plans to start manufacturing 90,000 units of the two EVs annually, with the goal of increasing production to 200,000 units by March 2026
