SINGAPORE: A man from Singapore died after a visit to a massage parlour in Phuket, Thailand on SaturdatDec 7.

KUCHING: A company director has been released from remand while a civil servant has been further remanded at the Magistrates Court here in connection with alleged bribery to secure construction projects worth about RM250mil in Sarawak.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan ordered the"Datuk" to be released on bail after rejecting a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigating officer's application to extend his remand by seven days to assist with the probe. However, Mason allowed the application for the civil servant to be remanded for another three days starting Monday .It was reported that they were arrested at about 5.30am on Dec 5 when they presented themselves at the state MACC office to have their statements recorded.

According to an MACC source, the two suspects are believed to have colluded and conspired to enable several companies to obtain construction projects issued by a district public works office in Sarawak. "They are believed to have committed the act between 2022 and 2024 in return for obtaining construction projects worth about RM250mil.
