A Houston homeowner is raising concerns about a temporary power line running across his property, posing a potential danger to his family and pets. Despite contacting CenterPoint, the exposed line remains, leaving the homeowner feeling frustrated and unsafe.

Robert Boykin, a Houston business owner, father, and cyclist, is recovering after nearly being killed by a driver. This incident follows a troubling situation he's been dealing with for the past five days regarding an exposed power line on his property. On Sunday, December 29, the power went out at Boykin's house. He was informed that the wire running through his backyard, near the pool, was a temporary bypass, but felt concerned with a child and two dogs wanting to use the backyard.

On Friday, Boykin spoke with two CenterPoint agents who informed him burying the line underground was not within their job description. When Boykin expressed his concern about the exposed wire, he was told it was the only thing providing power to his house. A CenterPoint spokesperson stated that Boykin or one of his neighbors would have to pay to replace the underground line. They also provided a statement emphasizing safety, urging customers to stay at least 35 feet away from downed power lines and report them immediately to the company
