ICYMI: Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride Platform advances its long-standing ambition to challenge Intel and Nvidia in the lucrative AV systems space:

a direct challenge to Intel and Nvidia in the autonomous vehicle space with the Snapdragon Ride Platform.The platform — available for pre-development to automakers in 2020 and expected to be in production in 2023 — includes scalable chipsets and developer stacks aimed at powering onboard AV systems through four levels of autonomy, ranging from driver assist functionality to fully self-driving cars.

The company plans to leverage capabilities developed throughout its wide-ranging chip business to eventually produce a multiple system-on-chips for AVs; the device would incorporate Qualcomm's AI engines, camera image processors, digital signal processors, high performance CPUs for decision making, and GPUs for visualization.
