While some tourism businesses will survive the prohibition on Chinese travel, others will be 'smashed to pieces' a Melbourne tour operator warns auspol

Australia’s hotels, restaurants, tourism operators and some of our most popular attractions face a combined $1 billion loss in revenue for every month the Chinese travel ban remains in force, with industry chiefs calling for a government rescue package to save jobs and businesses.

Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham says China travel ban will have a"significant impact" but Australia's tourism industry is resilient.“Some members have told us they have gotten calls from some of their tourism operators that have had cancellations in the hundreds of thousands,’’ Mr Lambert told“We would hope that the government would consider financial packages similar to the bushfires.

The tourism industry estimates this influx of people, which is spread fairly evenly across the calendar year, generates $12 billion a year in revenue. Australia's ban on tourist travel from China follows similar restrictions announced by the US. “We are in for a lengthy time of disruption,’’ Mr Johnson said. “The industry has got to brace itself for what is going to be a very difficult year.''

He said while his own businesses would survive the Chinese travel ban, operators that relied heavily on Chinese group tours would be “smashed to pieces”.

Businesses need to be prepared for these events! The ones that fail were not prepared! That’s a failure of management.

What would it do for their business if everyone was to die from a virus?

Whatever a conservative government does, the feminist media will attack. Journalism these days not about ‘reporting’. It’s about fitting events into a set narrative.

What would they prefer? Spread virus 🦠 so they can make a $

Protecting people is more important than money OR is it

Well too bad.. don’t put all your eggs in one basket.. risk of business
