Every year come mid-July, the influx of designer sales turns me into a strange version of myself that is both highly impulsive and overly analytical. Sometimes I’ll overthink a sale item for days, asking all the proper questions like, “Would I buy it for full price?” Other times I stop mid-walk and sit on the side of the road to type in my credit card because I cannot believe that bag I ogled over walking down the runway is a shocking 75% off.

But this year in particular, I am trying to manage my impulsive side and approach sales with the mindset that these discounts are an opportunity for me to invest in designers I love, believe in, and want to support. I’m also considering what I will actually wear when there are no events to attend. Though I still feel slightly overwhelmed, I have developed some tricks sure to prevent any non-refundable regrets.

Below, I am sharing some of my designer sale picks and recent purchases — all under $500 — from seven brands I’ve eagerly waited to buy into. Let’s call this a guide to investment sale shopping. When making a still-expensive sale purchase, I look for prints and styles that I loved on the runway, and still love months later when they hit the stores.
