Ben&Ben has donated the earnings from their song"Nakikinig Ka Ba Sa Akin" to a group assisting retrenched employees of embattled ABS-CBN media network, which the Duterte administration shut down.
On Twitter on Friday, August 28, Ben&Ben said that they've given the revenues to Lingkod Kapamilya, which has programs that support those who have lost their jobs in ABS-CBN's ongoing retrenchment. "The band's goal in releasing the song has always been to be of service to retrenched employees of ABS-CBN," they wrote in a subsequent tweet.for the song, saying it was a tribute to the media company that President Rodrigo Duterte had long wanted to close.
The folk-pop collective first started writing"Nakikinig Ka Ba Sa Akin" in April, and shared early drafts of it to their followers online. The song is about respecting the opinions of others and learning to listen to each other. The band released a full version of the song on June 12, Independence Day. –
