Sunil Thakor's global stock fund has returned more than 500% to investors since 2009 by precisely targeting high-growth companies. He explains how he finds long-term winners in a 'sweet spot' that minimizes risk.

by aiming for companies that deliver outsized growth with reliable stock gains.

"The absolute return of the portfolio is more or less been driven by the earnings of the underlying businesses ... the volatility profile of the portfolio is roughly in line with the volatility of the underlying benchmarks." The fund returned 516% from its inception in March 2009, shortly before the market's financial-crisis low, through September 23. It far surpassed the 290% return for the MSCI Index and was well ahead of the 373% return logged by the S&P 500.
