The country attracted only R2.5 billion of new investments last year, a sharp 45% drop from the 2019 figure of R4.6 billion. However, with many of the Covid-19 restrictions on doing business being gradually lifted, FDI is seeing signs of recovery.
With its good business climate, strong focus on production and financial services, and tourism and retail sectors showing great potential, South Africa remains attractive to investors.
