Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones says companies are “making record profits” at the same time Australians are “paying record prices for their electricity”.

“Don’t begrudge a profit, a reasonable profit for the companies, but we’ve got to ensure that when we’re going through an energy emergency as we are at the moment, that households and domestic businesses are protected,” he told Sky News Australia.

“I’m concerned about the risk to local manufacturers, the risk to local small businesses and the risk to households that they go under because of exorbitant energy prices going through the roof.”

I wonder if those two things are somehow connected? 🤔

Australia used to have manufacture industries because despite high wages we had the competitive edge of cheap power. We need coal power.

And you wonder why the State of Victoria wants to take back control 🤔

That's why power should be charged at cost Plus CPI like Sir Joe had it set up.
