U.S. stocks opened mostly lower Monday, after slipping last week, as investors await remarks from Federal Reserve officials. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.1% soon after the opening bell:

U.S. stocks opened mostly lower Monday, after slipping last week, as investors await remarks from Federal Reserve officials. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.51% was down 0.1% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.05% slipped 0.1% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.50% fell 0.1%, according to FactSet data, at last check.

Fed officials including Vice Chair Michael Barr, San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly and Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester are scheduled to speak Monday. The Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq each closed lower on Friday, as investors digested a Labor Department report for June that showed a slowdown in job creation, robust wage growth and a low unemployment rate.
