The Australian imports industry has slammed the government’s “flawed” biosecurity levy, insisting the proposal lacks proper consultation. 2600SkyNews

The Australian imports industry has slammed the government’s “flawed” biosecurity levy, insisting the proposal lacks proper consultation.to shelve the levy which is to be implemented on July 1.

“It is essential that participants represent all industry groups who form part of Australia’s biosecurity and that this Committee be given enough time to consider and present a workable proposal for the Government’s consideration.”into Australia’s biosecurity system, which found resourcing the system was proving to be a major challenge to the sector.

The industry grouping, which includes signatories such as AI Group and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, claims the proposal would reduce competitiveness within the sector in addition to hiking prices for consumers. “If our border biosecurity is breached and foot and mouth disease entered Australia, consumers would pay much more for meat and the losses to farmers would be around $50 billion. If the taxpayer alone bears the burden of protecting Australia then companies involved are unlikely to take our biosecurity seriously.”which “had only been given to the media and not our office,” pointing out that of the 95 stakeholders consulted by the department, only 14 had signed the letter.

Good job for some. First time I have seen SNOWMO not looking like a smug git. Why does the LNP keep parachuting ex-military members into parliament. I don’t believe this will help them to retain power.

THIS FROM A LIBERAL NAT GOV WHO SHUT DOWN CAR PLANTS THAT HAD THOUSANDS OF WORKERS AND TOLD THOSE WORKERS GO RE SKILL WE DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR JOB. viellarisr At least with the car manufacturing industry $billions of tax payer $ was put into the industry trying to save it. But with the mining industry not a $. In saying that you have got to admire Trad's honesty. Not sure it will go down well with the miners & the unions though.
