Most of the job vacancies in 2018 were contributed by the manufacturing, agriculture, services and construction sectors, says MIDF Research.

At least 15,900 jobs were created every month last year in the construction sector.

It is reported that employment growth has been developing faster than unemployment growth over the last one year. The research house said the labour force expanded by 2.1% year on year to 15.5 million in January 2019, employment growth improved to 2.2% yoy to 15 million while jobs added in the economy registered at 6,800.MIDF said Malaysia’s external trade and industrial production index performance will expand at a solid pace following receding trade tensions, gradual pick-ups in commodity prices, strong domestic demand and low inflationary pressure.

In 2005, elementary occupations and operators constituted 30.9% and 15.4% of job vacancies respectively.
