Business advocate James Pearson says small business owners are ‘ropeable’ with Bill Shorten after he branded them ‘fat cats’ amid wage negotiations.
The Opposition leader referred to employers as ‘fat cats’ while threatening to increase minimum pay, in a proposal that could devastate struggling small business owners. Mr Pearson says many small businesses are ‘doing it tough’ with some earning less than minimum wage themselves in an attempt to keep their trade afloat. Image: News Corp Australia
Can the government just stop interfering in consensual relationships between employers and employees. That’s a union’s job.
Raise the tax free threshold. Wouldn’t that be the same thing. Oh sorry, that would cost the government, not small business! Doesn’t buy as many votes
Bills the biggest fat cat around
LaborFAIL Rapist
LaborFAIL What would this imbecile do to the economy - it's frightening!
Well if employers payed more than 3 percent it might be alright otherwise it’s not
This man could not possibly lead this country. He would be poison to this nation.
What about his fat cat mates in the unions
UnaffordaBill. Don’t vote for Bill and Labor, Australia can’t afford Bills
Struggling small business owners? Isn’t that an oxymoron?
billshortenmp LiberalAus but Shorten won't have any problem taking the money from a 'fat cat fund raiser' being put on by Pratt at Raheen will he? What a hypocrite. Labor voters? Stooges.
BS has no economic clue. 'He came in like a wrecking ball' should be his election theme song!
Oh dear
BS
Labor and the greens will only realise this is a mistake when their baristas start to disappear.
Fake Australian 🤮
Yep this will be interesting to see how all of this balances out... but wait the visa program is still in use so no problem easy to get around this for my Asian takeaway shop ....
All you hear is, increased wages will cost jobs. Maybe we should talk about the 15%+ increase in company profits while wages have in real terms actually gone backwards. A cut in penalty rates was going to create jobs, it only increased profits.
Just how badly is Credlin going with this embarrassing dross?
Part of the ignorance which lies within the Labor Party & the union movement is that small business owners are wealthy. This is so far from the truth for the majority of small business owners. Wage increases generally mean the owners do more hours & hire less staff. Simples.
Lol Peta Credlin. Pfft.
Fuck off! UR entire network exists only to serve interests of a demented Murdoch. You don't give 2 fucks a/b small business! Its all about Rupert's big business & now Gina 'life member of the IPA' Reinhart. Why do you think Barnaby wants to build railway 4 Adani? Free rail 4 Gina
Labor loves class wars!
My god you people are frightened
Suggestion, keep the wages as they are, drop cost of living by 50%, simple!
Bullshit as usual sky, if 12 million workers get a pay rise customers will have more disposable income and small businesses will have increased demand, higher profits and need more staff, sorry but the tail doesn't wag the dog, the economy is consumer driven, undeniable fact
Never strays far from the trade union rhetoric
Poor small business owners having to pay employees a living wage. My heart bleeds.
That will cost Employers $9b and no increased productivity: would mean jobs lost; more motorised - robotic equipment replacing Employees if Labour too high.
Random dude makes unsubstantiated claims about alleged thoughts of other people.
Shorten=Short on height& short on integrity 😡
B O L L O C K S 🖕🏼 SkyPresstitutesAust 🤷🏻♂️
More opinions dressed as news. I will lobby as will many for disclosure laws to ensure mercenary outlets like yours have to disclose to the public the difference.
Hey SkyNewsAust how about applying the blowtorch to this grub
‘Threatening to increase the minimum wage’ - threatening? Only a bunch of elitist vacuum dwelling talking heads who earn 10x the min wage would say this.
And? What’s the problem? Leave Bill alone. He’s our next PM.
And small business owners would refer to big business CEOs-their real enemy- as “fat cats”! Big business wipes out small business. Seen any family run hardware stores near a Bunnings?
Venezuela
What a fool
Please ask billshortenmp to refrain from using the derogatory term, Fat Cats. He should rather refer to them as Felines of Size ( FoS).
